All Hydrology Studio licenses employ a simplified floating license server that allows you to move licenses from one computer to another with just a few mouse clicks.
You can install your software on as many devices as you wish, but simultaneous usage is limited to the number of seats you have purchased. Two for the Professional or Single-Seat License; up to five with the Team or 5-Seat Bundle and up to 15 with the Firm license.
For instance, if you have acquired a Team License (provides up to five seats) but have seven users, all users can access the software, but only five can use it at the same time. You can easily deactivate a license from any of the installations and activate it on another computer whenever needed; whether it’s at a branch office, at home, on a laptop, or on a new computer, for example.
The license server also provides administrators with the ability to monitor current active users and deactivate licenses remotely through the “My Account” portal. There is no requirement for you to install a license server, as it is entirely managed by Hydrology Studio.
The Single-seat and Suite Professional licenses cater to independent practitioners and function as a dual-seat solution. They permit up to two concurrent activations—such as on a desktop workstation and a portable computer. These licenses provide unlimited access and enable usage across multiple devices, at any time, and from any location.
The Team license provides five (5) individual seats that can be installed and activated simultaneously. These seats offer unrestricted access and can be used on different computers, anytime and from anywhere. For additional benefits, please see the question about “Flexible Licensing” mentioned above.
The main benefit of the Team Suite is its affordability. At just $999 per year, your company pays only $200 annually per user, which breaks down to $16.67 per month… for the complete Suite!
Our online store is fully automated and runs 24/7, so you will receive your activation codes instantly following checkout. No wait times. Your Account page will populate with your new License Keys and Purchase History for which you can access anytime.
The Trial versions have some minor functional limitations. For example, you will not be able to save any of your project files. All printed reports will be watermarked. There may also be limits on inputs. However, you will certainly be able to give them a good test run. There is no time limit.
We typically produce an update on one of products about every three months while keeping a keen eye on usability and bloat.
They are automatic. Your software checks for new updates each time it’s launched. If one is available, you will be prompted to update. Just click [Ok] and seconds later your software will start as usual, but will be the latest version. Details of the new version(s) are listed in Updates and Release History in the Help.
Installation is a piece of cake. Just click on any of the “Download/Install Free Trial” links throughout this website. After that, just click the [Install] button for the software you want to use.
The software will then automatically download and install itself… takes only seconds. You’ll see a new shortcut icon on your desktop and you’ll be ready to run the software. The initial install will be the Trial version. A purchased License Key unlocks the Trial into the full version.
Stormwater Studio and Culvert Studio trials will automatically open with a sample project for you to play around with.

Yes. All of our software functions in both U.S. Customary and metric (SI) units.
Yes. It actually runs a little faster on Windows 11.
Absolutely! You may have already noticed there’s something pleasingly different about Hydrogy Studio’s user interface and graphics. Hydrology Studio uses a vector-based architecture and measures layout sizes using device-independent pixels. The user interface scales flawlessly up or down across modern high-DPI (4K/8K) displays without losing quality or becoming pixelated. It’s built on top of DirectX, treating the user interface as a modern 3D-accelerated environment.
Ever notice that much of today’s H&H software looks dated? It’s because they were built on a leagcy platform called Windows Forms (WinForms) which uses a raster-based, pixel-dependent architecture. Scaling a WinForms application natively for high-DPI displays often results in blurry text, clipped controls and broken layouts. Hydrology Studio has massive graphics advantages over software built on WinForms.
